We anticipate a HUGE amount of creative engineering in the decorations on the cars, so we have scheduled a car show prior to the start of the race on Saturday from approx 11:15- 12:30. This is the time to let your creative engineering shine. We will be lining up the cars around and along pit lane to give those who participate a great way to have some moments in the limelight (or YouTube)
Even if your car and or paddock area is NOT part of the contest we would still like it to be present (unless you are still working on it) so everybody has a chance to see all the GREAT
All teams who are entered into the paddock decorating competition MUST be present at the “parade”…
While it is highly encouraged you include your car in your paddock decorations, please remember that ANY decorations on the car beyond paint, decals, or anything that protrudes beyond any original body lines of the car, or could fall off the car during the race
UC will judge/evaluate each cars decorations individually to determine if item/s need to be removed prior to racing. All decisions are final.
We certainly don’t want to spoil anybody’s fun- but a primary objective of UC is to keep the racing on the track, and the festivities in the paddock!
Paddock Decorations/Themes-
Rules-
1. Each team/ or paddock may enter
Winners will be announced at the trophy presentation following the race.
All prizes will be in the form of a check made out to the Team Captain.
This is a “Family Show” nothing pornographic or otherwise distasteful - think appropriate for a small town parade.
Alcohol related entries will be acceptable, but again, must be in good taste, and follow the policies of the track on consumption (keep it under control- this is a family show!).
From the FAQ section of the Nelson Ledges Road Course website:
Q: Do you allow alcohol?A:We do not prohibit spectators from enjoying a beer while watching the races. What we do ask is that you be mindful of your consumption. Drunkenness and profanity will not be tolerated.
All paddock decorations should be done in a safe and or mechanically sound manner. All items should be secured to withstand whatever weather conditions are present.
No permanent alterations to the grounds and/or facility are permitted.
Remember electricity is not available anywhere in the paddock area. If you need juice to power the disco ball and lights in your 70’s theme pits- you will have to provide it (safely).
Any entry that doesn’t follow the simple rule of keeping this a “family” show or is in any way unsafe or inappropriate may be disallowed. UC and Nelson track management reserves the right to remove/disallow any such displays.
Judging will be done by UC officials, all decisions are final.
